    Hi guys,

    Wondered if anyone here attended the Hants SCP meeting today [19th October], where the guest speaker was Anthony Fletcher. If so could you contact me asap please.

    I just tried to engage him on twitter this evening regarding a comment he made See tweet here:

    Unfortunately he did not seem willing to answer my [quite fair] questions about this. Please could someone who was there get in touch and shed some light on this.

    On further inspection, I saw this tweet from back on the 9th October See tweet here:

    Look forward to hearing from you.

    Ian

    I was not there today, however I did go to an evening branch meeting where they were there.

    I asked them questions about there theories.

    I asked for there evidence

    I asked for articles

    I asked for research

    I got nothing from them. They kept saying they are working with athletes and how their techniques improved 100m sprinters times, I asked for evidence again, I got nothing.

    They give the whole body a biomechanical score then 'mobilized' joints to improve function, however the mobilizations were things I am not seen before. I got up that evening as a volunteer for that evening, I even stayed afterwards to ask fair and sensible questions, I got nothing back from them. Hence I did not got the event today as I thought they are talking out of the backside.

    Ian I shall ask around to see who went.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    The only evidence they could show you about mobilizing a wrist to change foot function would be your bank statement where they changed your balance by feeding you bull**** !

    Hi everyone, I was there. The aproach was on neurodynamics and how nerve tension and/ or compression would lead to compensation and then pain. Their approach was that if you reduce that tension the compensation might not be necessary and therefore pain could be eliminated. It was the pm lecture after dr in neurophysiology in the morning.
    Evidence? I've got none but it sure was an entertaining and interesting point of view and we all know about placebo effect. If pt think it might help then it might.

    Ian here is his LinkedIn page, he's a personal trainer & self-professed biomechanics coach expert:

    IS he actually performing the manipulation in the courses and if so I wonder what the UK chiropractors, osteopaths and physio organizations would say?

    I seem not to have come across the UKBCA before, they seem to have trademarked 'biomechanics coach', how can this have happened? Surely all podiatrists/physios are coaches of biomechanics? Have the professional bodies have had something to say about this? Have I missed that as well?

    Very Salient point. I was at the meeting wondering how someone could claim such a statement. I was unconvinced at their claims.

    However, credit to them; they presented it very well. Even if it lacked evidence to support its claims. A for Effort ^_^

    That is a typical characteristic of woo meisters and snake oil peddlers. They are sharp operators.

    I`m almost sorry I didn`t attend this one. Liked this tweet from our James;
    Taking a shifty at the website, the definition of extrinsic and intrinsic is a tad unusual;

    Actually, nah. I wouldn`t have missed Roma. Not many places I feel inclined to re-visit, but that is definatley one.
