    :confused:Are these two problems seperate issues or is there a link. Most of what I read seems to suggest that they are seperate. Does hallux limitus begin first or the HAV. In a foot where both appear to present what sort of surgery would be recommended.:dizzy:

    The principle pathology with HAV or hallux abducto-dorsi-valgus, aka hallux pronatus is joint subluxation. A partially dislocated articulation will cease to function normally with the quality and range of motion likely to be affected. Clincal HAV is far more prevelent than most practitoners are prepared to admit and many prefer to cite the principle symptom i.e. limited motion as the key to diagnosis. However limitation of joint function will usually follow subluxation and depending on the severity will determine treatment options.
