Hi everyone,

I am currently a new grad, and have been working for 4 months in VICTORIA. And now, I am applying for a job in Singapore as a Podiatrist. The contract is 2-3 years.

Does anybody know if i will still be recognised/accredited in Australia if i decide to come back?

Will i need to upkeep any memberships/governing bodies like AHPRA in Australia?

I once heard that if i am working away from Australia for too long and decide to come back i will have to do a 6 monthsd refresher. Just wondering if this is true?

I am afraid that Australia might not recognise me or my experience after so many years out of the Australian work force.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Best option would be to continue your AHPRA registration, then you will only need to meet the ongoing registration requirements of CPD and first aid, otherwise you will need to reapply when you return to Australia, shouldn't be a big problem, but may take a bit longer, you will need to show you have recentcy of practice, which would then mean you wouldn't need a refresher.

Also as you will be working in a country that doesn't have registration for podiatrists, maintaining registration in another country is often advisable.
