Dear colleagues, the podiatric medicine in Spain has a great development over the last 2o years. Recently we have stablish the University degree of 4 years, what we call grado en podologia, and what you call the pregrade.
Althoug we have a wide field of competences (surgery, orthopedics, farmacology prescription) the new generation of students, where I am included, are concerned about the necesity of a proper post grade learning, instead of a postgrades wich have a short duration (only one year), do not include a good training or not the same training that has a MD in the national health service for example (Spain speaking) or a US Podiaty.
And the problem is that we study for 4 complete years a pregrade, and we think that the pregrade training is quite good. (Subjects down below). However, we dont have a proper residency training, that is so disappointing.
My question is, How do you think that we can change this situation? And with the purpose of do it I think that it would be quite interesting to take advice from the DPMs.
