    Hello,
I am a second year med student now but worked prior to med as a podiatrist within Qld Health for 5yrs. I'm keen to work over the Christmas break and I was just wondering if people think that there is scope for locum work over so short a time. I'm also not so sure how to go about it so any ideas greatly appreciated. I have no instruments or gear - clearly I'm a winner of an entrepreneur!!
    Thanks for any help,
    Cheers Pheo

    Hi Pheo,
Why don't you join the "Dr Podiatrist" thread, you probably have a unique perspective to offer ?

    Good luck with the work!

    Hi Pheo,

Are you in Queensland? Perhaps you could advertise with the A Pod A in IMPARJA notifying pods of your availability for locum work... I'm sure there would be demand for someone to cover holidays for permanent staff over the Christmas break! :D

    Good luck!

    Regards

    Donna

    Hi Pheo

If you send me a private email with your contact details I would be happy to pass them on to the company that I work for who are focused on aged care in both medical centres and nursing homes. There are always looking for staff both locum and permanent

    :D

    Hello Pheo,
There was a podiatrist in Port Macquarie, NSW who was looking for a locum over this period. Try the Podiatry association of NSW website, or contact me & I'll get the number for you.
    Good luck.

Thanks all for the advice!! I'm still looking - I tried to find imparja online but I couldn't even really find a link to the Qld Pod association!!I have put a few feelers out for nursing home work or similar in Brisbane so i guess I'll see what happens. I did volunteer to do podiatry for the homeless connect day in Brisbane - I think it's a great idea of gathering health professionals in one place and apparently it's rolling out nationally as of next year so could be coming to an area near you if you're keen to get involved!
Anyway, still a job hunter but glad to be finally done with exams!
    Cheers, Pheo
