I realize there is need to serve the community but call to jury duty does often come at rather busy times in practitioners lives.

I note the authorities are clamping down on excemptions (in WA anyway) and it appears podiatry is not included in the list of health professions that can claim exemption. Which begs the question why?

What say you?

I always thought that self employed people are exempt, which is ok for me - but maybe those pods who are 'employees' are not... ?? Are there many other health professions that are NOT exempt?

a registered and practising medical practitioner, dentist, osteopath, nurse, midwife, vet, chiropractor, pharmacist, physiotherapist or psychologist.'

I have no idea why podiatrist would not be on the list as I could not see why osteopath, physiotherapist, chiropractor, vet would need any more excuse than a podiatrist as a case of "importance"

While the Australian Conference is still on it may be a good question to pose to the management ?

Raise it with your state council would be my first suggestion

 

In Victoria, there are no such expemtions for any of the health professions.
