As regular readers will know, every new year we hold a quote of the year thread for the wittiest, wisest or most memorable quote of the preceeding year.

And its a QUOTE by the way, not an entire essay. Dave. ;)

Makes no sense to wait until new year and try to remember, so I thought I'd start it early lest there be gems left forgotten when the time comes.

So here's the rules. If you think a quote qualifies as the BEST thing you're likely to read this year, nominate it by posting it (with credit to author) here.

If you love it, thank it.

Quote with the most thanks at year end wins.

  2. I hesitate to nominate Mark Russell (2 times winner and present title holder, but this was pure class!

  3. Why bother, Russell always wins anyway. All we need to do is go to Mark's posting history, sort through 'em and find the best one. Although the young pretender RobinP had me snorting coffee out of my nose with his "pearl necklace" response to the caption competition starring Ms Evans.

"Ever the professional, Angela managed to concentrate on the job in hand despite having just been given that amazing pearl necklace."

    Genius.

  4. Robinp, herafter referred to as "the challenger"...

There is always the fight for second place!

I'd like to enter a challenger. It's not so much a quote as an image/diagram but should win quote of the year on the grounds that it applies to almost every male/married contributor in this site, I suspect.

    I'd like to nominate Ian.......

    Good luck to Ian

  6. I will second that nomination with the image itself ;)

Sorry to have to do this LabGuy but you can't have things like this written into your post and expect someone not to enter it into quote of the year contest

I also like it because ........ its very gentle and patients love being touched and obtaining immediate relief.

    Podiatry Arena.......a site for intellectuals!

    Any seconders?

Got a new one. Taken from DAVOHorn on the thread for Man FLu

Mind you on the monday night at 3 in the morning i really would have appreciated the help and compassion of a good wife. But being divorced and single i felt very alone.

Will have to try and get a new wife

Only a man THINKS.....I'll have to try and get a new wife....genius

  13. another one for the list.....

I know you said however, but I would hate to see you Robert when you really want to have a Rant.

Don't know why this thread popped into my head but it looks like Ian was the winner with

Not undeserved in my opinion although i thought his other nomination was better.
