HICAPS and Accreditation

I recently heard that all Podiatrists in private practice using HICAPS will soon have to be "officially" accredited to continue to use the system.

Does anyone know if this true?

 

In NSW it will not matter because as of this year you need to be accredited by the Registration Board to even practice. Hence if you are in practice and using HICAPS then you will be accredited.

Other states will be different I assume.

Morning all!

I have heard that there is Quality Assurance Accreditation legislation being introduced that will require every Australian business to be accredited. HICAPS were advised of this at a recent meeting with the health funds who stated that, when the legislation comes into force, they won't be able to settle claims to any provider and/or practice that does not hold accreditation. I understand that providers will have to be accredited personally as well as their practice.

That's pretty much all I know. I don't know who will do the accrediting or what the accreditation criteria will be. I heard just this morning (amazing coincidence!) that there's a rumour doing the rounds that introduction of the accreditation scheme may be deferred for 12 months
