It seems that metatarsalgia is often treated with metatarsal bars, cookies, dancers pads, forefoot padding and rocker soles and less frequently with 2nd metatarsal head cutouts even if the metatarsalgia is from 2nd met head pressure ie Morton's toe. Is elevating a 2nd met head more successful than relief cut out? Is supporting the transverse arch providing more of the relief?

  2. Ms. Jersey:

You should first review the extensive discussions here on Podiatry Arena since you seem to be getting confused between the diagnoses of metatarsalgia and 2nd MPJ capsulitis/2nd MPJ stress syndrome. Try the search words of 2nd MTP, metatarsalgia, plantar plate. You should have a couple of hours of reading with these threads. If you have more questions after doing some needed reading, then ask a more specific question and I will take the time to answer it.

Thanks for the suggestions Dr. Kirby, I have begun my reading.

Once you have done your reading, then please come back with some more specific questions, if you have any. I'm sure that many others will also benefit from a discussion of any questions you have regarding these very common problems of the foot. :drinks
