Hi all,
Trying to do some cpd, wanting to read research papers but finding it very difficult to access papers and journals without paying for the papers or paying for subscription to a journal.
Can someone please recommend a journal where papers are freely available or a journal worthy of paying a annual subscription to that would allow me access to a large number of quantitative, significant research articles?

I don't think there is "one" that I would recommend over another that is worth paying for.

 

Papers relevant to podiatry can be scattered across hundreds of different journals. So another approach I find useful is to compose a couple of queries for Google Scholar and run them once a week/month whatever suits. The advantage of Scholar is that the results tell you when a full text version is available. You can also set up an email alert. When you find something interesting follow its trail backwards using references and forwards using citations. Of course for CPD you need to be looking for stuff that will actually influence your practice, so focus on stuff that's actually come up at work, otherwise you'll never surface!

Solid advice .... as a NYCPM alumni I am lucky to have access to the online library with most journals available, 'free'. Pretty much nothing is free, in the US, so this is an unusual but welcome benefit. One notable exception to journal listings available to me is Podiatry Now. I am paying a subscription for the non-practicing overseas practitioner. Partly for nostalgic reasons. I recently found, in this journal the article 'Corn Cutting in the 21st Century', a must read.
