Our focus is delivering holistic care, managing the high risk foot and improving foot health status for people with chronic conditions through self management, education and coordinated care.

    As a senior member of our large team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the direction of the department, and to provide a wide range of podiatric services, including
    - inpatient and outpatient services at the RHH
    - community health centres in southern Tasmania
    - multidisciplinary High Risk Foot Clinic
    - involvement in CPD, QI and KPIs

    • Classification: Tasmanian Allied Health Professional Level 3
    • Salary Range: $70,674-81,065
    • Full time: 76 hours per fortnight
    • Fixed term : 15th March 2010 – 15 March 2011

    Dear Helen,

    look at your job specification.

    It states FIXED TERM

    15th March 2010 till 15th march 2011..

    It is now 24th April 2010.

    So it is now a 10 month temp contract.

    I would have applied for a job in tas if it was a Substantive Fulltime Permanent Contract.

    It is just not an attractive package to apply for as a Temp Contract.

    This is a great shame as Tassie is a very beautiful and friendly place.

    And when i had the pleasure of meeting you and your colleagues in December i explained that a temp contract was not an attractive offer.

    Many tassie jobe are advertised on more than one website due to the lack of interest.

    Might i suggest you persuade the management and HR depts to offer substantive permanent contracts.

    The cost of moving to Tasmania for a short term is just not financially viable.

    I am therefor returning to UK in July after a wonderful 4 years here in Australia.:drinks

    Hi David,
    There have been a number of applicants for this position who apparantly found out about it from a number of sources, so it looks as if the "fixed term" part of the contract is not as much of a deterrent as you think. This is the first time a senior (level 3) position has been available for advertisement for our department in any form for some time, so I think that is the appeal. We have found that many podiatrists who come for short contracts often stay if they have the opportunity, and our manager certainly does everything she can to ensure that, if that is what both sides want. We are otherwise a pretty stable department excepting maternity leave contracts and the occasional level 1-2 position, as new graduates come for a few years to get a grounding in a broad range of podiatric areas that only a large public podiatry service can provide, before moving back to the mainland - although the last three to do that are still here 4, 3, and 2 years later!
    I remember you spoke highly of the NHS when you visited, I hope that when you return later in the year it is everything you remember it to be.
