The Scientific Committee for the Australasian Podiatry Conference 2011 invites you to be part of next year’s conference by submitting an abstract for either paper or poster presentation. This conference, held only every two years, attracts over 700 delegates. If you have new research, practices or developments, this is your opportunity to share with your profession and receive recognition for your efforts.

The call for abstracts closes Thursday 4 November 2010. Submissions are welcome across the following themes:

• Rheumatology
• Medication related outcomes
• High risk foot
• Sports medicine
• Biomechanics
• Paediatrics
• Gerontology
• Surgery
• Dermatology
• Epidemiology
• Practice management
• Public health
• Podiatry education

Barefoot running expert confirmed for conference

The Organising Committee is pleased to announce world renowned foot health expert Prof Irene Davis has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for the Conference. Prof Davis is best known for her research into barefoot running, which is the subject of much debate amongst podiatrists. She has been published in countless peer reviewed journals and was recently featured in Nature. Prof Davis currently works in the McKinly Laboratory in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Delaware, where she is researching the relationship between lower extremity structure, mechanics and injury. She has recently accepted a position at Harvard Medical School to develop and direct a National Centre for Running, beginning in January next year.
