I am looking for a little help researching a project on
1. Footwear for children
2. Footwear design
I wouldn't normally ask but when I search for anything on Google related to podiatry arena, there are very few results(didn't used to be the case). Perhaps there is a way round this and I would be delighted if someone would enlighten me. I cannot find anything through the PA search tool - I am totally useless unless Google literally lays it on my lap
Anyway, failing that, I wondering if anyone has any little stashes of information on the above topics
What I am looking to discuss is:
CHILDREN
- Why it is important that (asymptomatic) children wear supportive footwear?
- Is there any evidence to show that ill fitting footwear actually causes problems or is it just what we believe to be common sense?
-Is there any evidence to show that children wearing footwear too early inhibts their neuromuscular development
ADULT
- Is there any science behind how shoe design has arrived at the "normal" shoe design (eg heel height, toe spring, last design etc)
- Does wearing shoes inhibit the requirement for "normal" foot musculature. This gets dangerously close to barefoot running, i know and I know that design of shoe and requirement for purpose comes into it as well.
As I said, if anyone can provide anything, even just links to threads that I already know have discussed these topics, but cannot find, I would be most grateful.
Many thanks
Robin
