Here is a classic paper from Clement and Taunton, published in 1980, that I read in my podiatry school days. This paper represents the early years of sports medicine and the recognition by non-podiatrists of custom foot orthosis therapy in the treatment of foot and lower extremity running injuries. It is important that all podiatrists who treat athletes be aware of the history of the treatment of sports injuries within our profession, and within the other medical professions.

Medicine has changed... Taunton has changed... Vocabulary has changed...
When I teach at Laval University it's the type of paper I say to not read... completely out! Like a presentation I was doing 15 y ago "Prevention of Running Injuries « Everything you must forget!»" http://lacliniqueducoureur.com/en/courses-conferences/demo.php
