The Purpose of This Study is to Assess Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Berovenal® Intended to Promote Treatment and to Expedite Chronic Diabetic Foot Ulcer Healing

Brief Summary
The goal of this clinical investigation is to evaluate clinical efficacy of medical device Berovenal® intended to promote treatment and to expedite healing of chronic diabetic foot ulcer in male or female subjects aged 18-85 years with diabetes mellitus (type 1 or 2) and with present diabetic foot ulcer by providing moist environment similar to intracellular environment of the damaged tissue. It will also learn about the safety of medical device Berovenal®.

The main questions it aims to answer are:

Does medical device Berovenal® lower the size of diabetic foot ulcer?
What medical problems do participants have when using medical device Berovenal®?
Researchers will compare medical device Berovenal® to a reference device (device with similar purpose of use).

Participants will:

Use medical device Berovenal® or a reference device every day for 8 weeks or to the time point when the diabetic foot is closed
Visit the clinic once every 2 weeks for checkups and tests
Keep a diary of their symptoms and the number of times they use medical device Berovenal® or a reference device

Mirragen Diabetic Foot Ulcer Study

This study is being done to collect data from treatment of patients who have diabetes with non-healing foot wounds and are being treated with a resorbable and biocompatible borate-based bioactive glass fiber matrix. A borate-based bioactive glass fiber matrix is used to cover the ulcer for wound management. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the borate-based bioactive glass fiber matrix in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers in a real-world setting. The secondary objective is to evaluate the clinical and financial benefits in terms of quality of healing, pain, and treatment cost.

Achilles Tendon Rupture - Intervention With Electrical Stimulation (C-NMES-ATR)

Acute Achilles tendon rupture (ATR) is an injury that is commonly associated with complications, such as blood clotting, muscle loss and tendon lengthening, all of which affect the long-term outcome and return to sports. These complication are related to the treatment of ATR with lower leg immobilization in a boot.

The investigators aim to demonstrate that an intervention with calf neuromuscular electrical stimulation (C-NMES) during leg immobilization after ATR can 1) reduce blood clots, 2) lower the degree of muscle loss, 3) decrease tendon lengthening and 4) improve long-term outcome.

The Influence of the Lower Limb Components on Genu Varum in Football Players

Brief Summary
Objectives: To evaluate lower extremity alignments in football players with and without genu varum using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to determine the mechanisms underlying malalignment and the factors contributing to it.

Methods: This is a prospective case-control study with football players with/without lower extremity malalignment. Full-length lower extremity MRI was used to evaluate the lower extremity alignment parameters. In addition, the isokinetic strength of the concentric knee extensor-flexor and concentric hip abductor-adductor muscles was measured using an isokinetic dynamometer at two different angular velocities: 60˚/sec and 180˚/sec. The investigators created a logistic regression model to investigate whether the alignment parameters used to evaluate lower extremity alignment in football players are risk factors for the development of genu varum.

Detailed Description
The concept of physiology of ageing implies that a series of complex events occur which ultimately lead to a progressive reduction in function of all organ systems. This process, also called "homeostenosis," is influenced by gene variations and differences in exposure to environmental factors .Reduction in muscle strength and coordination of the lower extremities accompanied by decreased gait assurance and balance control are the result of a physical deterioration in an older body. Together with decreased cognitive functions, these impairments lead to a higher risk of falling among the elderly. The foot is the first point of contact between the body and the external environment, and it plays an important role in postural sway. Its plantar mechanical receptors provide spatial and temporal information about contact pressures and shear forces resulting from body movement being a valuable feedback mechanism to the postural control system. Interventions to optimize sensory information from plantar sole such as vibration stimuli, customized foot orthoses, textured insoles, and sandals with textured insoles and magnetic insoles have been tested before, some of them showing balance improvement .Sixty elderly patients will be allocated randomly to two groups; group 1 will receive balance training program beside orthotic prescription and group 2 will receive orthotic prescription alone.

Efficacy of Surgery for Idiopathic Toe Walking (FOREFOOT)

BACKGROUND:

For children who walk on their tip toes, surgery is often done to lengthen their Achilles Tendon. However, there is little research to help children's surgeons choose which children with idiopathic toe walking should have surgery.

METHODS:

This research study will investigate how effective surgery to lengthen the Achilles Tendon is for children with idiopathic toe walking. It will explore if the children's quality of life, endurance, strength, range of movement or walking pattern improves after they have had surgery.

This study is a pilot study with 20 participants. This means the results will be used to decide if a larger trial is needed.
