Recently a client of ours started up a CMT support facebook page, this charming young lady has CMT herself.

We have been making her footwear and Orthosis for many years and recently she has gone through two pregnancies and delivered two beautiful children, not easy for a client with CMT.

If you know anyone with CMT that is considering pregnancy, maybe guide them to CMT Pregnancy Birth and Beyond here is the link

"The CMT journey is often a tough one and many sufferers are faced with some challenging decisions when it comes to planning a family, pregnancy, birth and parenting. Here we welcome stories from mothers, fathers, relatives and anyone who has been touched by CMT in some way."

Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) Disease Information Session

Very exciting news! Together with the wonderful Muscular Dystrophy Australia we will be hosting an information session on Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) Disease, which will be held during the inaugural Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week in the first week of September. This is a huge step towards raising awareness and in reaching out to all those affected by this debilitating disease. CMT, also known as hereditary muscular and sensory neuropathy, causes slow degeneration of the nerves in the extremities including feet, legs, arms and hands. Typically muscles are weakened due to the loss of stimulation by affected nerves. Research has indicated that as many as 1 in 2,500 people in Australia could have CMT. If you have CMT, or know of anyone who has this disorder, this event will be invaluable!

This wonderful event will be held on Monday 2nd of September 2013 at MDA's head office located near the CBD in North Melbourne, at a proposed time of 6pm.

This event is not to be missed as it is the first event of its type to be held in Melbourne. We have some exciting guest speakers secured already and are working on confirming even more. Please join us and come meet others with CMT, hear from the experts and help us raise awareness in the process.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest. Anyone that is interested in attending can you please either private message me or reply on this post so we get an idea of numbers.

Medical professionals are also encouraged to attend
