29 year old female patient with dorsal pain of b/f. bil mild HAV deformities noted.. Plain xray shows within the medial aspect of the head of R 1st MT 2 corticated cysts. Patient indicates pain at position of MTJ. Visual gait analysis shows abducted foot with collapse of the stj. Visually/dynamically a very challenged foot. My question is can these cysts be arthritic in nature? Can the cyst be painful on its own> unrelated to t deformities?? was hopeing for some pearls of wisdom, as my research has not turned up anything to do with corticated cysts of the mets.
