    Hi all,
I recently had a questioned raised in relation to a definition of debriding within the scope of general Podiatry practice and how much debriding is allowed ? Are there guidelines limiting/outlining/defining the limitations of Podiatric debridement in general practice?
I look forward to your learned responses.

You will find that most guidelines will limit debridement to soft tissue for the general podiatrist,

The Pod Board of Victoria has the following guideline

I have raised this issue with Board members in my state previously. They typically have a guarded response.

The classic situation of which I am confronted with is necrotic bone penetrating an apical digital ulcer. The bone is virtually falling out into your lap.

Many is the time that a distal phalanx has been removed as part of my debridement of these lesions....what else can you do?

If only we were all allowed to just do a 5 second percutaneus flexor tenotomy (without having a FACPS) they would never occur in the first place....
