I was in a tech store on Saturday and got talking with a middle aged member of staff. I was looking at a Garmin Forerunner and he then got onto telling me about a Fitbit pedometer he has been wearing. He has lost 9 kg and he competes with his wife who has lost about the same.

The device clips on, syncs with computers, tablets and mobile phones. Has a dashboard which logs your activity, as well as plenty more. He was raving about it (not selling ) genuine. This seemed like a great device for our diabetic patients. A fun way to find out how much activity they do in a day. It would be interesting to track their sugar levels against the Fitbit device and how active they have been.
