I have recently been made redundant from the NHS and am looking for jobs - surprise surprise there arent a lot about :bash:

I see that shuropody are advertising for staff in several areas, and am interested, but remember hearing about paycuts and staff being unhappy a few years ago. Dont want to get anyone hit with a libel suit but if anyone can let me know their first hand views on working for the company I would appreciate it.

The main things I wold like to know are, is the pay decent (first things first?), what are the working conditions like, are you allowed professional freedom and do you carry out a full range of podiatry treatments?

I see no-one has replied to you - this may be because of the previous problems Pod Arena had from Shuropody? ~The true nature of which has not been disclosed to the community.
It is obviously difficult for Podiatrists to have any kind of discussion without being senselessly provoked into negativity. This is a shame as there needs to be a forum for this kind of mutual support.

I'm confident the company will provide you with all the information you need, so why not contact them?
The job provides a great opportunity to get up to speed.
    Good luck
ps it was some time ago you posted are you working yet?

I agree that speaking to the company is an excellent idea. And I recommend speaking to Claire Carr who leads the clinical side of things.

I recently had an interview with Claire and I got the impression she is working hard to develop a full range of podiatry services, and enhance the quality of clinic space after years of under investment from the previous management structure/ownership.

I didn’t accept the job offer in the end because my private work blossomed.

Also for your information a company called Career Cross (James was the chap I dealt with) do a lot of recruiting for them. So I guess they might be able to put you in touch with people they have placed at Shuropody.

    Good luck

Hi, thanks for your replies, Tim and Jambutty. I did get some other private replies soon after I posted the query, people not wanting to re-ignite what was apparently quite a volatile topic!

I am signing on with an agency who deal with the company, so I may get a chance to try them out and see for myself. I'm working part time NHS and trying to set up private practice also, lots of balls in the air!:deadhorse:

    Hi,

I have done some work for Shuropody and have no problem sharing my experience..

Go for it, at the end of the day a job is a job and we are lucky to have one!
They do provide good working conditions and are fair, obviously they are a business and want to make money.

    Good luck
