Have had one of these cases,
initially presented at age 6 F, with the over pronating foot, adnormal ROM, increased planterflexion , reduced dorsiflexion, out of" normal" age for age . Not diagnosised with CMT at this time. the cases rang alarm bells , she couldn't walk on her heels and a few neurological signs ( forgotten some she is now mid 20's). Tx was orthotics and referral to neurologist Prof Garth Nicholson at Concord, I suspected CMT.
Interestingly she was dx with CMT and mum too who also was not aware of her condition.. Both are still patients 20 years on, the 6 year old now has typical cavus foot , some muscle weakness, but has regular exerises recommended by neurologist so progressing reasonably well. Mum still has followup with neuro , has weak intrinsic foot muscles, wears her orthotics reguarly but cavus foot only average at 50 not excessive. Interesting case!
