What do you look for when conducting and interview?

What do people look for when interviewing people? What questions do you ask? I know its very broad but any help appreciated.

Interviews are by nature stressful. But seeing patients can be to. So I like to see candidates who appear calm and professional. If you're a gibbering wreck at an interview it does not bode well for coping skills.

Know the answers to the questions, but if you don't, know how you would get those answers and say that instead.

And do some research into the dept you are joining. It shows initiative and that you are keen.

When I have interviewed people in the past I only looked for 2 things:

    (1) Were they presentable?
    (2) Did I like them?/Did they seem pleasant?

You usually decide these things within 5 minutes of the interview beginning.
