I've really enjoyed reading everyone's threads and the wealth of information out there, linked to podiatry. I have a question to ask and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Myself and family are emigrating to Australia NSW next year, Having already completed a Diploma & masters in social work, I appreciate the hard work and effort required to complete a university education, however, with 2 small children to look after, Returning back to uni in Australia to do a Podiatry degree is not an option for me. With no family support in Oz, I need a role with flexible hours around the children's schooling, and having a friend who is already a successful Foot Health care Course in the UK having studied the SMAE course, this is a more financially realistic option for me and treating the basics of foot health care would still be as equally rewarding for me. As I need to start work immediately when we arrive in Oz, I was hoping to spend the next 12 months completing the SMAE course in the UK, but wander if anyone out can confirm whether the FHP qualification is transferable once I arrive in Australia. I fully appreciate that as a HFP I will be limited in practice as to the conditions I would be able to treat. Podiatrists have earned their status, and as a result should reap those extra benefits, also is there a place for FHP's in Australia....any help appreciated, regards Karen.
