  3. It's funny, but many podiatrists think that foot and lower extremity biomechanics started at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in the 1960's and 1970's. Unfortunately, that simply isn't true. Giovanni Borelli discussed quite sophisticated biomechanical concepts, and with more mathematical rigour than many who today claim to be "podiatric biomechanics experts", over three centuries ago in the first textbook of biomechanics, "De Motu Animalium".

    Aloha Kevin,

    I liked it a lot.

Great photos and explanations of some difficult concepts.

You included my favorite science hero Archimedes' and his knowledge of the levered simple machine to move the world.

And how true your final quote,

"Examples of those that changed history in foot-health
professions show that advances in knowledge require
sacrifice, determination and hard work." and if I may add patience.

    Thanks for the great work,
    Steve

I know of very few Podiatrists that believe biomechanics originated at CCPM in the '60-70's. But it just so happens that Root, O'Brien and Weed were the "first" to my knowledge to coalesce the findings of others and publish their own, fairly complete compendium on lower extremity biomechanics. Good historical review, BTW.
