Recently I was asked to do an independent medical exam for a client referred by a large company. The client has a foot injury and they wanted my opinion as to how it could be possibly caused. The patient has been off on workcover.
My question is what fees to charge this organisation. I have checked on the worksafe site and found recommended fees for physio, osteo and chiropractic but not podiatry. My inclination is to charge the company along the same lines as what these other disciplines charge. Te fees listed are maximum rates payable. For example for physio the maximum charge listed for consultation is $84 plus GST and for preparation of report $169 plus GST.
Has any one out there performed an independent medical exam?
To be honest I'll probably go with those rates but would like to hear other thoughts here.
Thanks
