Hi all. My name is Geoff and I have recently graduated from The Durham School of Podiatric Medicine (june 05). I live in Belfast and as yet have not started any podiatric practice. Would be happy to receive any info relating to podiatry :) :)

Can anyone clarify the position of newely qualified podiatrists in relation to their ability to prescribe any poms. Also, how does one go about buying local anaesthitics within the UK

    Geoff,
I am very curious: what is podiatry like in Ireland? Are there chiropodists also? Do they both have/can get surgical privileges? I have taught at two American podiatric medical schools: how many are there in Ireland? Do you have many visiting lecturers?

I appreciate any info you can provide. In advance, my thanks.

Hi conway, situation here in Belfast is much the same as anywhere else in the UK.

As for southern irland, not totally sure the situation there. As far as i know Podiatry is not as well developed as here in Belfast or the rest of the UK. But unlike the UK, treatment as far as i know must be payed for. I dont believe they have the same as the National Health Service in Eire.

Not sure if that answers your questions, but thanks for the contact , and please contact me again if you have a question regarding the emerald isle or Podiatry in the Uk. I will do my best to answer.

    All the best Geoff
