    If your doing research and wish our input, then learn how to present yourself in a professional and credible light. Properly introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself so we are compelled to respond.

    Who are these top people and in what indusry are they in? Do you not think that we are always doing research to continue to help alleviate our patient's foot pain?

    You present yourself as very ignorant and insulting to this forum.

    Belinda, exactly! We're all just trying to make a living and I have no problem with people that fully disclose who they are and their agenda but that does not appear to be the case here.

    I apologize if I came off as spammy, unprofessional, insincere, or insulting to you or your dedication to your patients. That was not my intention.
    I simply didn't want to throw up a wall of text and talk about myself, as I didn't feel anyone is really interested in me.

    And on reflection, you are right. So to address that...

    My real name is Larry Hickman. I got involved in helping others with finding solutions to their foot problems back in 2001 when I worked for The Sports Authority.

    The long and short of it was that people would come in and complain about some foot pain or "shin splints", at first I didn't have any answers and thus started my research on foot problems, especially how they are related to proper footwear selection.

    I eventually created a training program for The Sports Authority for my department that focused on proper footwear selection, especially in how proper footwear selection can help prevent some common foot problems/pains.

    I tried to get it adopted for the region, however management weren't really concerned about really helping others, as much as they were about how many shoes moved through inventory; they saw the position as a sales associate as just an inventory merchandiser, rather than a point of influence to educate and serve others in a higher manner.

    At any rate, fast forward many years and I am now working at Nordstrom, (started a couple months ago) in the women shoe department. And as you probably already know, I see women every day that are in need of podiatry services. Hammertoes, bunions, many complain of heel pain, or have balance concerns, etc. I talk to these women and ask if they have gone to a podiatrist and a lot haven't.

    I am talking to podiatrists in the area (Philadelphia, as I work in the King of Prussia mall) to refer these women to. Have a call this afternoon with a podiatrist that I am hoping I can refer some of these clients too. I was referred to him by an mutual client.

    And, I want to have a bigger impact. I know a lot more people need to seek out more expert care. I've had other businesses along my life journey, though I didn't go to medical school, didn't do a residency, or an internship. I can't properly diagnose, like you guys can.

    I have nothing to sell.

    So what I thought of doing is reaching out to people in the podiatry industry and trying to understand what the trends are and the opportunities within the growth of the podiatry field. I am talking to experts (perhaps like yourself) or people running those sorts of businesses because you've got the experience.

    And so for me me it is just to understand. And the purpose of me understanding is that I may (or may not) see some solutions or opportunities with the industry and I'm looking to feed that information back to the industry.
    So for people like yourself I would also provide a resource of ideas and opportunities along the way.

    I'm willing to talk to anyone that is interested, ask a few questions about your business, your experience, and to show you that I am sincere; even if it is to talk about spammers.

    Larry,

    If you want to have a bigger impact, then get a degree in Pedorthics and you will be able to be more involved in patient care.

    Your current position is selling the appropriate shoes to your customers and you should stick with that as you do not have the credentials to do anything beyond that.

    Steven,

    I appreciate the advice, I did a google search and read about a pedorthic degree; getting a degree in Pedorthics may be a path I pursue at some point.
    I am not sure that being more involved in patient care is the direction I want to travel at this time.
    At the moment, I am looking for more immediate ways of helping the community/industry and on a larger scale than just 1-on-1 interaction.
    Talking with a few people this week, I have been able to clarify that I am really looking to start my own business/being an entrepreneur that helps podiatry practices/podiatrist.

    Help with what? Help in what way?... is the next real questions.

    So my question to anyone that is willing to talk about their business... What current challenges are you facing?

    Sorry, Larry. Still smacks of selling.

    By your own admission, you don`t want to be involved in patient care. When you signed up to this forum, you would have agreed to the rules, which clearly state;
    I wish you well in your new business venture, but this really is not the place to be asking how we can assist you in your entrepreneurship.
