in the realm of podiatrists is there such a thing? as a GP i have recently been made aware of the condition DMICS and understand a specific approach is recommended for its analysis and correction with orthotics. it seems that not all podiatrists would have experience with the condition. i don't know if this is the right place for recommendations but someone with experience of this condition for subsequent referrals would be appreciated.

 

You do realise that you've posted this in the UK forum? I'm in the south west of England if you need to refer regarding dorsal midfoot interosseous compression syndrome.

 

I know. I actually work from UK and Canada on and off. I had a list in UK and still track some of my patients- or should I say they track me. I also have an Ipod with lists of specialists I have both worked with and who come recommended for just about any physical problem I could think of- folk I would be happy to go to myself. The easiest thing is to just refer to the local knee guy or the local gastro guy but I think this is often doing the patients a dis-service. I work from the north west when I am there.

I doubt you will find a specialist in midfoot pathology anywhere in the world. If you are looking for someone in the Northwest of England who can treat DMICS, midfoot osteoarthritis, Lisfrancs fracture/ dislocations, etc.. using conservative and surgical methods where indicated, I can recommend referrals to Frank Webb in Manchester (I must have recommended Frank on several occasions now, so I wish I was on commission!) - if you would like contact details, please PM me on here.
