Hello!

I am a MBA student working on commercializing a technology.

I believe the technology may help in diagnosing foot problems but not sure if something like it already exists.

I was hoping to gather some information. What are some common tools used to diagnose feet? Visual only? As in watching them walk?

Something to diagnose foot problems does already exist... It's called a Podiatrist...

I guess i should be more specific - I was thinking about where a patient can walk on a type of surface and the podiatrist can observe how they walk (through a computer) and diagnose where someone places a lot of pressure.

2D pressure analysis very much exists already I'm afraid. But diagnostic it ain't.

Do you think you can 'invent' something which will replace thorough history taking/clinical examination/X-Ray/MRI/Ultrasound/blood tests etc etc etc?

What are you actually trying to achieve and why?

Perhaps you could tell us your background and where you are coming from in order for us to understand more. It is clear you may not have that great an understanding of the clinical side of Podiatry - and this could be a big problem given the area you have decided to enter.

I am a MBA student working on an assignment. I was given a sensor technology that can detect movement and then create a magnetic charge recorded by a computer. Our assignment was to come up with possible applications and my team and I were thinking a diagnostic tool for PT's and podiatrists. I do not have any background in this area. I came to the forum just to gather information, not to imply a replacement for the field.

You may want to do a little more research and get back to us then. As I say this technology already exists and many different companies sell pressure analysis tools. The point I'm trying to make is that they do not 'diagnose' conditions (and never will in my opinion). So you may well just be re-inventing the wheel...
