I'm having a debate with a couple of physio colleagues over the mechanics that create a medial ground reaction force to occur in two different scenarios:

first, a one foot balance test (as the COM moves medial and the appropriate ankle strategy is to increase medial GRF)
second, during running at the moment the COM ground reaction force moves medial across the metatarsal heads to the 1st met head, sesemoids, and hallux.
Our debate is the role of each peice of the kinetic chain. For example, what percent contribution does each tissue play (plantarfascia, intrinsic foot muscles, spring ligament, peroneus longus, ACL, ITband, patellar tendon, transverse plane stabilizers of the hip, etc... )
I'll leave this as a very wide open question for now.
