Hi everyone,

I started a comprehensive rundown of my patients history and symptoms but lost my post due to my own stupidity. So sorry for this very lacking thread but I am after advice for an x-ray finding I received today reporting:
"Mid-diaphyseal proximal phalangeal cortical thickening are muscle insertions".
Essentially, patient has 2 week duration aching dorsal aspect of the 2nd metatarsal distal shaft. I got x-rays to rule out stress fracture of the distal metatarsal shaft. I realise that stress fractures may not show on x-ray before 6 weeks.
I understand that the interossei and lumbrical muscles attach to the proximal phalanges, but has anyone seen this before and what exactly do I make of it.
Thanks.
Rebecca
