    Hi all
    I am currently in south africa and was wondering how the Osces are conducted around the world as I am of opinion that the way it is done here is not sufficient and doesn't really test our clinical skills
    Any info would be appreciated

    Hey superstudent, I studied in the uk, so it maybe very different to SA.
    At my uni we had between 8-10 stations where we had to perform different
    pt exam/prescribe meds/ i.d derm conditions/ strappings/dopplers ect.
    These stations were supervised by lecturers and external folk.
    High pressure stuff, usually the best prepared students handled the pressure best. Those who didnt know thier biz or could not handle the pressure sank!:sinking:

    OSCE's can be set up to examine a whole range of different skills, depending on the purpose of the actual exam.

    Often the students perception of what goes on in an OSCE or clinical exam is very different to what the examiner perceives is going on.

    Hi Stephen

    I qualified from UJ, South Africa, in 2011 and I also felt that our OSCE's were under parr. Unfortunately I think it directly relates to the lack of enthusiasm, skill and knowledge that some of the lecturers have...
