If a contributor is not crediting an author and using the words verbatim should they be admonished?
I am working my way through the 'stiffness' threads and have gone to 'barefoot running debate' thread as it was referred to.
A contributor, who I have always had trouble following their, imo VERBOSE, posts is to my (simple Google) investigation plagiarising from external authors and no credit? recognition has been given.

Sorry Admin but that is not correct. The podiatrist you refer to in UK was not struck off the HPC Register for plagiarism.

    http://www.hpc-uk.org/complaints/hearings/index.asp?id=2373&showAll=1

It is true that one of the original complaints against him was copying another's work to write a report but this was not well-founded by the panel and for that matter there was no case to answer.

His undoing :sinking: was submitting false claims for treatment to an insurance company.

The cynic in me would ask how long it will be before he sets up in business as an FHP ?

    regards

Catfoot is right in that case.

However there has been at least one other case where a health professional has been admonished by the HPC for plagiarism so it is still taken very seriously.

Also, that reference to a 10% rule is a myth.

There is no percentage test. The situation regarding copyright infringment is more complex. Among many things, also depends on the countries involved - the laws applying in the locations of owner and user.
