I am researching if anyone has established competencies for a podiatry nail technician. this position seems to be up and coming and I do not want to re-invent the wheel if someone may have these already.

Maddie, It depends which country you are in..

In Australia there are now national comptencies for Podiatry Assistants as part of a Certificate IV course (HLT42507) run through many TAFE centres throughout the country.

The PBOA requires that any podiatry assistant with qualifications below a Cert IV require direct supervision by a podiatrist, where as with a Cert IV, supervision may be direct, indirect or remote and must occur according to organisational requirements

    see the guideline here

Not sure exactly what you mean by 'nail technician'. In the U.K. level 4 education is required for an 'Assistant'.

If you are referring to nail cutting carried out by companies such as Age Concern, then you could always check with the Society as their members are training them.

    Hope this helps
