Hi everyone,
I graduated and registered with HPC and the society in 2010 and have had one job which lasted 4 months.
Unfortunately i have been unable to find work since and now i am concerned about what i should be doing to ensure my registration with both HPC and the society do not expire.
I was wondering if someone could please tell me when i come to apply for renewal to both hpc and the society what are the things i need to do in order to keep my registration active ?

I am not too sure that I understand your question?

If you continue to pay your subscription to the HPC, you will continue to be Registered.
If you continue to pay your subscription to the SCP you will continue to be a Member.

Your HPC Registration and SCP Membership are not dependent on your employment status. However, if you find the SCP membeship fee a financial burden while you are unemployed you can register as a Non-practising Member for a lower fee. (You will, of course, need to upgrade this as soon as you become employed again.)

The SCP Head office will advise you about this.

Hi thank you for the reply, sorry if my question wasnt clear...
I was really just wondering what are the minimum standards i have to meet in order to renew my membership when it is due?
perhaps there are no standards such as must have worked as a podiatrist for a set amount of hours each year.
If there are no standards to meet then so long as i keep paying my membership fees then i will never have to complete a return to podiatry practice course if i do not practice podiatry in the next year

If you graduated in 2010 the HPC won't be interested in calling you for audit until 2012 (or two years after the date you graduated).
However, if you still are not working in Podiatry by then it might be worth giving them a call to see where you stand.

As far as I understand it, you can be out of Podiatry for 2 years (from the date you last worked) before you need to be taking any refresher courses.
