Just been advised after referral of patient that podiatric surgeons have had restrictions of practice imposed - for some rearfoot procedures such as calcaneal osteotomies and talar-calcaneal fusions. Anyone know why?

I get a feeling that there has been/ and will continue to be a witchhunt against these guys.

If you look at the foot, the patient satisfaction of pod vs ortho surgeon, is hugely in favour of podiatric surgeons.

 

I think the restrictions were self-imposed.
