    Hi All,

I qualified as a Podiatrist a number of years ago but have been out of the profession for a few years now.

I was wondering if there is a 'return to podiatry' type course where I could get my skills up to speed under the mentorship of an experienced clinician -- the equivalent of a return to nursing that my sister went on after a number of years out of nursing when she had a couple of children.

Also has there been any advance opportunities in Podiatric Surgery. This was the field I was most interested in but real opportunities seemed so rare when balanced with all the time and expense the qualification required at that time.

    Many Thanks

  2. Might help to know what country you are in ?
ps :welcome: to the arena and good luck

Hi there, I'm in the same boat as you! I have been out of it for 8 years while raising children. The HPC website is quite useful. I have to do 60 days study (30 can be private study and the other 30 must be formal study or supervised practice). It is quite expensive to do formal study, and I'm generally finding it all abit expensive! You can join the Society as a mentored member for £355 which will give you access to courses and other podiatrists who may be happy to supervise you. I am just about to join in the next few weeks as it's been abit expensive over Christmas with bills etc! I have also found that the University of Huddersfield do run a proper return to Podiatry course which sounds excellent (but sadly too far for me). I've also found a few really helpful members on this forum who have been willing to help. I've also been in touch with my old Uni and they have been great and I'm hoping to spend some time there (esp observing nail surgery and biomechanics) but there will be a fee. I wish you good luck and it would be good to keep in touch and maybe help each other out if we find out anything more! So far I have started the private study and I'm loving it! This forum is also brilliant for finding out up to date information.
