The Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council (HPRAC) has been asked to provide advice to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care on the regulation of chiropody and podiatry under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA). On June 28, 2007, the Minister directed HPRAC to “review issues relating to the regulation of chiropody and podiatry and provide advice as to whether and how there should be changes to existing legislation regarding these related professions”. The Minister asked that the Council include “an analysis of the current model of foot care in Ontario, issues regarding restricted titles, and whether the existing limitations on the podiatrist class of members should continue.”
At this time, and to provide context for an upcoming analysis of the chiropody and podiatry professions, HPRAC is seeking input on the current model of foot care in Ontario.
HPRAC is keen to obtain input from those who are interested in this issue, and their input will inform the development of our recommendations to the Minister. Therefore, I would appreciate if you could kindly circulate this announcement among your members and other interested parties.
The final date for feedback is July 4, 2014.
