Hi all! I am a RN with the desire to pursue podiatry. I want to learn more about what schools are best...and recommendations on long distance learning since I live in Alaska.

    Thank you for your time.

    I will appreciate any insight.

Any programs you would recommend? Moving is an option in a couple years. My spouse is military. Sadly, we will have to leave alaska in couple years but we plan to return and I would love to be able to come back and look at establishing some kind of practice...long term goals.

You will hear both positive and negative things about every podiatry school/university. Those who went to each one will tell you that they are generally the best.

Obviously.... thanks for you input. I'm trying to gather some info and start getting serious about changing my career...so if you can't provide any information other than your opinion with zero information please do not waste my time.

  6. Hi Sarah, have you ever thought of becoming a Foot Care Nurse? I have been running my own business in New Zealand for 25 years, very busy and successful. The Canadian Foot Care Nurses Association has an education department, and have offered online education for many years. This is now open to "overseas students" so you might want to check them out. And hey Alaska is not far from Canada, you might even get to their conferences. Registered Nurses are in a great position to provide Basic Foot Care, which Podiatrists accept here in NZ. Use your clinical skills in a specialist area, you would be amazed how many patients you get to help. All the best Heather
