Hi,

I am currently going into my final 3rd year at Salford University and was looking into the scope of employment opportunities in Australia.
Ideally, my plans were to apply for a working holiday visa at the end of my studies with my main intentions to travel starting in Brisbane, but after hearing about employment opportunities for Podiatrists in Oz I have been looking at applying for immigration.

As far as I am aware it would be a Skilled Independant Visa which I would need??? But, I need advice on the process and exactly how easy it is to get set up over there and whether it is best to have a job set up before you go??

Any advice will be appreciated!!!!!

As far as I know you wouldn't have enough work experience in Podiatry to qualify for permanent residency under that category. If you want PM, the easiest and quickest way is through the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme. I came that way, but you are contracted for two years and if you leave because you don't like it...you loose the visa.

I have friends travelling around Aus, on a four year work visa, they are doing locum work, so far worked in three states. Might be your best way.

I finished at Salford University in June this year. I have just spent a month in Oz where I went for interviews in Brisbane, Mackay and Cairns. I have accepted a job offer in Cairns and I will be applying for Regional Sponsored Migration Visa which will give me permanent residency status. You are tied in for two years but the job offer si so good I don't mind..as I will be doing Biomechanics and getting training in that from day one. You won't be able to get this type of visa in Brisbane and its surrounding suburbs as not classed as regional.

Private mail me if you have any questions.....I sent off 50 C.V's and got 5 job offers from those where no-one else was being interviewed!! There is plenty of work in Brisbne although the pay isn't great I found ( it seemed to average between 40 and 45,000 dollars which seems to be going rate for graduates starting out). I will be paid more in Cairns..North Queensland.

I dare say I would recognise you as I only left Uni in June this year...
