Hi I wonder if any members could assist me.

I am doing some market research for an orthotics company and am looking to find out what practitioners prioritise in the following -

    Turnaround,
    Quality of product,
    Quality of service,
    Price,
    Medical Knowledge of Lab Staff,
    Materials available,
    Customer care.

Also what are the pro's and con's of your current supplier.

Finally - What would encourage you to use a different lab if they could offer a similar service.

Any comments would be very much appreciated to assist me with this.

    Many thanks
    Gail

We started having substantial problems with the lab we dutifully used for over 10 years. Although we appreciated some of the efforts they made to rectify our consistent problems, in the end the finished results failed to meet our expectations. We took several months identifying a collection of suitable labs, then narrowed that list down to two in order to make a final choice. The hope was that our final selection would be a sincere professional partner for many years to come.

We did a survey of participants in a Boot Camp a number of years ago and asked a number of questions, which included:

What orthotic lab do you use?
    Why?
What would it take for you to change?

It was really clear it all came down to service. Not much got said about the product, the research, the etc ... it all came down to the quality of the service.

service my needs 1st. (on site local rep is a must)
    then-
    quality
    turn around times
    costs per pair
    return policy
    clinical staff consult
    cast storage time frames
    patient out growth program
    low cost refurbishments

Just to name a few.......but I want it all and it's hard to come by....

I am currently in the process of changing from the lab I have used happily for a few years now. Their orthoses are great but turnaround times are too long and shipping costs from across the pond have gone way up. So in this case my priorities would be turnaround and shipping/overall costs. Hopefully I will be able to get similar quality along with the significantly lower costs offered by the lab I am about to try out. However if the quality is not up to scratch I will be back to the tried and tested!
