Surgery to treat RA!! RA is an immune mediated destruction of synovial tissue. How can surgery treat that?

 

In late stages, surgery is very useful
to correct the deformities ,
relive the pain,
and improve the quality of life..etc..

Your question is fairly broad and so difficult to answer.

DaVinci is correct in that surgery is not a "cure" but there are numerous surgical procedures specific to RA that may give dramatic, although perhaps temporary, relief.

I think the most common minor procedures are simple pannus or synovectomies and Rh. Nodule removal.

In the Forefoot, luxated MTPJs that are painful can often be helped dramatically by a Hoffman or pan metatarsal head resection. Although it appears like a rather invasive procedure, it heals very quickly.

Just ask any Hand surgeon and they will also tell you the positive effects of MCPJ surgery, although, again, at times and in active diseases the correction has a longevity issue.
