Does anyone have experience with iSOFT as an alternative to Hicaps?

Hi Tim, I'm thinking maybe the anser is NO?
Must admit I have not heard of it in my travels.

    Cheers

    Hi Heather

Thanks for your response. I just had a bad experience with Hicaps and by doing some quick figures iSOFT should save us approximate $500 per year for the same thing that Hicaps offers including Medicare claiming.

Does it integrate with your practice management program (if required)?
Do they cover all the health funds that Hicaps does?

I know when i have looked in the past it was a no for the 2nd question. They may have caught up now.

I use IBA iSoft. I have not had any probs with them I can claim for most health funds.(only one I can't claim is AHM) Plus they save me more $$ then Hicaps. Hope this helps .

Hi all, I might be sticking my nose in where it isnt wanted here but would someone be prepared to give me a (brief) explanation of what ISoft and HiCaps are?

Here in the UK the NHS has invested heavily in two ISoft systems - one being IPM (I. Patient Manager) and the other (unknown name or acronym at this time) to be phased in over the next 2-3 years (based on a projected timescale). The IPM system we use is second rate, unreliable and definitley does not do what we (the clinical staff) would like it to do. In addition to this it looks like it was designed when Windows 95 was just being launched and 800x600 resolution was good.
To boot, there has been very heavy criticism of it in the UK media.

    Curiously,

    Duncan

PS: My understanding of HiCaps is an accounts managing system. I understand ISoft is a global company - I assume they offer different products in different nations.

They are payment claiming machines and software that allows a patient to make a health insurance claim from your front counter to be paid to you, and then pay you the required balance on the spot, rather than paying you in full, then going somewhere else to claim back their component of insurance.

    Hi Phil,

Thanks for the explanation/clarification. Seems I can offer nothing more more to this conversation at this time.

did you end up going with the hicaps or isoft?? I currently use Hicaps at one practice, but rent the terminal with 3 other practitioners. I am looking for an alternative that I can use at my other 2 locations...

if you did decide isoft, would you recommend it now??

I have been using iSOFT healthpoint for approx a 8 months. A lot cheaper in running costs then Hicaps.
