Why is there "The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists" then?

Degree level Chiropodists/ Podiatrists have been banging on for years that they don't want to be known as Chiropodist only as a Podiatrist.

This is exactly what she is saying.

 

As she is not claiming or inferring she is HCPC registered, she is doing nothing wrong. Chiropody, like podiatry is not a protected title.

I think some folks are missing the point here.

No-one is saying that this person is claiming to be anything they are not.

At 1.02 mins into the podcast they state that "legally the term 'Chiropody' is no longer used".
This is blatant misinformation and it needs to be corrected.

As we all know, "Chiropody" and "Podiatry" are both Protected Titles and are interchangeable.

 

Yeah right. Here's a wee job for you tonight; dig out the primary legislation - not the rubbish sent to the professions by the HCPC - and show us where it says "protected titles". I'll save you the bother. It's not there. Now read the HCPC's consultation on podiatric surgery and read what they say about "protected titles" now - it's at section 5.4:

You see catflap, if there was such a thing as 'protected titles' for podiatry - podiatric surgeon would be protected under the existing legislation as it's a derivative of podiatry/podiatrist. Just think, if you had come to court you would have learned all that for yourself and you wouldn't look such an eejit!

You have missed the point again. Please pull your sporran out of your ears and listen to the podcast again, especially what is stated at 1.02mins.

We are not talking about "Podiatry", but the comments about "Chiropody".

The point being missed is that it is quoted as saying the term chiropody is illegal, I am unaware that it is , perhaps someone in authority should tell everyone then, that chiropody is no longer legal. Maybe I have been asleep but there are still chiropodists around doing chiropody is there not ?, or have they all retired, given up and now only podiatrists and foot health whatever, professionals, practitioners, etc.:deadhorse:
