I can't find any info on Dr Software for medical uses.... but found the Medisoft site quickly ... maybe that says something about these 2 companies?

does anyone know of any systems that can be networked over WAN ie between clinics in different towns and that also do associate fee shares, email, appointments, etc. All the UK systems seem poor for this and the US suppliers (esp. DPM8000) will not sell to us as they cannot support the system easily?

    Hi Julian,

I don't know of any companies who produce a web base podiatry solution. (That doesn't mean there aren't any!)

A web based solution is ideal because data input is 'real time' and does not need to be synchronised, therefore is available to all users immediately. However it can cost thousands of pounds and several months to produce because it requires a customised system built to the clients specification and hosted on an internet server.

My company: PodiatrySoftware.co.uk can customise their exisiting software 'Podiatry Practice Pro' to handle fee sharing and e-mail integration (at very little extra cost). We have also built some software solutions which provide synchronisation via the internet or manually.

There are three options for what you are trying to do:

    1. Use a PC based database system with synchronisation using USB devices. (Clinicians need to return to base to synchronise records and data is not available immediately to all clinics)

    2. PC based database system with the ability to synchronise via the internet (broadband required in all clinics but synchronisation is easier and more reliable)

    3. A web based database solution (none currently produced specifically for Podiatry in the UK although we are working on it)

To find other companies who specialise in web based database solution type 'web based database solutions' into your browser.

    Hope this helps,

    John

My main task for this weekend is to install Front Desk over a local network. Looked around at other systems and this one seem most appropriate for use in Australia and has some really cool features ..... but may not meet your needs as its specific to Australia (ie supports GST and HICAPS) and it is supported here.

    Private practice software

I have just installed the private practice software from Rushcliff. so far so good. The program allows all the front desk options, EMR, specialists forms and letters as well as reporting. The next version V4 due out soon has other options including remote real time access and PDA intergration.
worth a look well price and support has been excellent so far.
    try their web site www.rushcliff.com

Julian Head, I would certainly want to take a look at what you are needing. We host Medisoft servers for doctors clinics. We can do everything that you ask for, but I am not sure what an associate fee share is. What are some of the issues with US companies operating in the UK? Different medical billing forms?

    Hi Craig

How did you go with FD2005? I've been using it for about 5 years and I'm a huge fan. We run it over a LAN, 6 pc's, at our main rooms and are currently running it out over a WAN to our other 3 sites. Please e mail me if you need any help with the set up (I'm only 5 mins from croydon) and I have set up 3 or 4 clinics now and know what the software can do.

We are using Front Desk in our practice in 5 different locations for 6 practitioners multidiscilpary and find it to be very good. As Craig points out it seems to be set up for Aust but i imagine it could be adapted

For the past 5 years I have been using an Internet practice management system called NueMD to bill for a handful of doctors - 2 of which are podiatrists. I'd recommend it for many reasons but my doctors tell me they enjoy having access to patient info at each location they see patients and they can even run it at home when they want to view reports, see the next day's schedule, etc. It seems to be an ideal option for small office or offices with more then one location. Good luck.
