    Hi

The pics below show the nails of a female patient 57 years old with Type 2 Diabetes and my thumb nail that has recently gone yellow from the top, down. Both are yellow and shiny (mine also have splinter haemorraging)
The cause of yellow nails, besides onychomycosis which this isnt, is often said to be diabetes or Lymphodema but I dont have diabetes and neither of us have lymphodema and I see many diabetes patiens but none that I notice with yellow nails like this i.e. translucent and shiny.

    any comments appreciated?

    Regards Dave

    Hi David
Patient looks like Yellow Nail Syndrome. Any lymphoedema, ankle oedema, similar changes in the finger nails?

Your nail looks quite different. Partial leukonychia with trauma?

    Cheers

    Bill
