Big Toe Pain when bending it up (walking, running) but no pain bending it down.

    Before I head to a doctor, would anyone like to take a guess at what this is?

    Last month after a tennis match my left big toe began to have a sharp pain when walking / running and it hasn't stopped. When I bend it upwards, I experience pain at the base joint of the toe. If I bend it downwards, there's no pain, even when I pull on it.

    There's no inflammation, just pain. Sometimes it starts to feel better, but then I go running or play tennis and the pain starts all over again....

    Big Toe Pain when bending it up (walking, running) but no pain bending it down.
