Hello everyone. Deborah in Cheshire here. Can anyone recommend the best employment agencies when looking for locum work? Preferably NHS clinic work or private practice clinic work. Thank you for reading this. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

I'm not sure of any agencies to be honest - I'm in Scotland and all NHS jobs are advertised on the (NHS) SHOW website - there must be a similar thing down south? You may be lucky and find someone on here!?

    Good Luck!

Thanks Lucy. Yes I'm registered on the NHS website. I've made 5 applications since September (that's how infrequent the jobs are within the Northwest at the moment). I graduated in 2008, got my first grade 5 in Lancashire in Jan 2009. Then went to Melbourne from Sept 09 to July 10 and I started looking for work again at the end of September. Of the 5 applications I've made 3 were for grade 6 but I didn't make it to interview stage (thought i'd chance it but realise I need more NHS experience really). One was grade 5 bank work ...got an interview....day before the interview all candidates were contacted to say that the post was withdrawn due to funding issues! Finally... I had an interview on Friday for a grade 5 position, but although I had very positive feedback I was pipped to the post by a candidate who scored an extra point on the interviewer's scoring system. Good to know I'm on the right track but very frustrating because it was a wonderful job. Just praying something will turn up.

But in the meantime I wanted to find out about locum work and people's experiences of it and recommendations.

Good luck in Melbourne. I lived in Sandringham on the Bayside. Where are you going?

I'm going to Albert Park, hopefully will find enough work out there to keep me busy for a few years.. Can't wait!!

Good Luck!! I've gone straight into private practice which is very scary, but thanks to people on here I'm getting a lot more confident - have you thought of PP?

I've gone so far as reading about it and then worrying. I have a room in my house that could be converted but I'm not convinced it is the right route. I suppose my biggest concern is expense. PP could be an option it's just I loved my NHS job so much I can't imagine replacing that experience. Ask me that in 3 months when I can't pay the bills and I'll change my tune.

Albert Park is lovely (expensive though)You'll be able to hear the Grand Prix! You will never be short of work in Oz, you're right. Thanks for your replies Lucy. Wishing you heaps of luck in your Australian adventure.

Albert Park is very lovely ( and expensive yes - I'm lucky and have a father out there who bought a house when it wasn't such a nice area!!)
    I can't wait!!
You don't need a room! Speak to places near by where you could rent a room, or speak to your local GPs and do dom visits and build up that way?

Thats what I did, but yeah, I too would have loved (still would!) a NHS job!!!

    Good Luck!!
