    Good morning everyone.

I am currently undertaking an MSc, looking into audit tools and strategies that are used, with particular focus on MSk and core podiatry.

I would be most grateful if anyone would give me an insight into what they are currently using to audit their services and whether they feel it is effective.

    thanks in advance.

In Australian public system we use Eqip. I'm 3 years out of date you may get more up to date information from Steve Tucker or Luke Taylor. Got sick of audits......retired.

    Ros,

For hospital Accreditation we now use the "The National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards" plus 5 additional EQuIP standards, administered by the ACHS

For a clinical audit, there are many, many tools around.
The LEAN approach is quite popular in hospitals at present http://www.lean.org.au/, using an "A3" to identify issues, collect diagnostics etc.

Medical audits follow a different approach, and often take a data mining approach.

Steve, thanks, just think of the fun I've missed in 3 years! Oh my heart bleeds! Are you going to the conference at Liverpool in May?

I haven't finally decided yet, as my current role is very much an administrative position.

Thank you both for the replies.

    Stephen:

Do you find the LEAN method works well for podiatry specific interventions or do you find it too generalised?

    Matt,
LEAN work well for process issues of any sort
