My local Age UK centre had a FHP carrying out the footcare there. The FHP was treating several patients (5) in one session there.

So, this is where I applied knowledge of the law.

If you carry that amount of waste in your car, you need to have a waste carrier's license.


Either that, or the Age UK centre needs to have a clinical waste contract in place!

Oh, the Age UK centre no longer provides this service at their offices.

 

Not quite sure what you`re driving at Jacky, but Age UK do utilise clinical waste contracts and can employ whoever they want to carry out footcare, so long as they carry indemnity insurance. If you have a query, why not approach them directly?

 

Yes, they can use whoever they want.


I know for a fact that this place did not have a waste disposal contract.

 

Contracts are raised between concerned/interested parties, not venues. Like I said, if you feel they are in breach of any legal agreement then you should raise your issue with them direct.

So what do Pods do when engaged in domiciliary visiting ?

I would be more concerned about the standards of hygiene in the premises such as a carpeted floor and lack of handwashing facilities.

the point about carrying the waste from several patients in a car at the same time came from a waste disposal company's website. honestly can't remember which one it was. it was ages ago!
